On October 2nd and 3rd, BR Latin American IP LLC took part in the conference Changing Landscape of Latin America, organized by INTA, as Gold Sponsor of the event, held in Cartagena-Colombia.

This is the first event hosted by INTA in Colombia and we want to share our experience with you.

On 1 October, before the conference started, BR held a reception at El Baluarte San Francisco Javier restaurant for all its associates, allies and friends, where we gathered with leaders in the field of Intellectual Property from all around the world.

The conference began on 2 October with an inauguration speech by INTA’s CEO and some of the organizers. On this first day, we approached issues such as entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property, its balance with regulatory restrictions, public policies, and social responsibility involving businesses. Important entrepreneurs and lawyers, invited as both speakers and moderators, joined the discussion as well.

On 3 October, the second day, topics covered included branding, valuation of intangible assets, social media, data protection y online counterfeiting.

That day, our CEO Álvaro Ramirez Bonilla was a speaker at the ninth session: Social Media: When to Talk, When to Watch, and When to Walk Away, talking about the legal problems involving social media and possible solutions.

The event unveiled a challenging panorama for Latin America and the world, while highlighting the advancements this region has had regarding Intellectual Property and how our successful handling of these challenges makes us a fitter region for investment.

We thank INTA, especially Ms. Dolores Moro, Ms. Paula Lee, Ms. Dionne Downs and the rest of their team. We also thank the speakers, moderators and assistants that made INTA: Changing Landscape of Latin America a success, for providing useful knowledge and discussion for our region.
